LTI Car Show

August 23rd 2005

Ok, its been almost nine months since we started this project, (see early picture gallery) and we are approximately 18 days from loading and making our journey to the slat flats in Utah.

WOW what a ride, many wonder how we got this project done in that amount of time and I guess at times I also wonder how we got it done.

The answer is persistence!

This multiple person (and business) project has been both fast and slow and I guess I have been the project manager or at least the one that has picked at someone each and every day. In reality I feel as if each and every person has been ticked off at me at one time or another during this entire project.

However I honestly feel as if I hadn’t been there each day we would have still been looking at a very rusty, mouse infested hulk of a vehicle.

To review it has taken the energy of all of us to make this thing happen. Each bolt, screw and nut has been touched, cleaned, replaced, painted or restored.

Indy Powder Coating has powder coated every thing we asked to be powder coated, Indy Dry Strip has striped and blasted each part we wished to blast, Tyler at T&K Auto Body has painted and sanded each and every part and assisted in the finish assembly of many hours.

Van at Van Craft and Richard have built the headers and assisted in the welding from time to time.

Donnie at D&B Sprint cars has spent hundreds of hours making stuff to assure this truck not only looks good but handles as well, Walt from Grumpy’s Hot Rod shop has spent countless days with Terry Engle and I to install the engine and drivetrain including the donation of the red engine (engine #1) for the first runs. My crew Greg and Stan (including their friends from the Indy Hi-Winders Car Club) have supplied a massive amount of labor when asked, including rebuilding both doors from scratch with all new windows and hardware etc, Dave Link and Steve Behr ( alias Yogi) have also just jumped in with parts and labor to help get it done. Ed Stone (the wood guy) also spent a few hours doing the woodwork for the bed. Steve Long (Steve Long Radiators) supplied the work of art german silver radiator keeping us very cool. (hard to do on a flathead sometimes). The crew at Freelance Lettering done a huge job of detailing the decals that adds to the overall appearance.

Not to mention the support of friends and visitors to make this project come to life.

I haven’t even mentioned all our sponsors and intend to do so in another part of the web site, that not only donated parts but added cast to the pot from time to time.

To all the above and others I wish to say “Thank You” for the help and support!!

Hopefully we can bag a record the first time out and make everyone involved very proud to say I not only know those dudes but I helped them“ get er done”
