Electronic Conversion for Buick Nailhead Distributors |
The following pictorial illustrates what our typical conversion consists of. |
| We start by disassembling and cleaning your good useable Nailhead distributor unit. |
|
|
|
Install a 12 degree brass bushing to limit the mechanical advance. |
 |
|
Assemble and lube the mechanical advance. |
 |
|
A machined Chrysler reluctor is pressed onto the points cam. |
 |
|
New Vacuum Advance unit installed and Breaker Plate is prepped for installation of a stator/pick-up coil. |
 |
| The stator is installed with clearance and adjusting holes drilled and tapped 6/32 for a allen bolt. Air gap adjusted to .006". Small hole with receive a pop rivet. |
 |
| Distributor is tested in a distributor machine and pick-up signal pattern is observed. |

Completed electronic conversion of a Buick Nailhead Distributor ready to be mated to a Bubba's High Energy Ignition Module and Finned Cover. |
