Chevrolet Magneto Conversion for 1949-1953 Flathead Ford

Magnetos for a flathead are kind of hard to find and old Chevrolet V8 Magnetos are more common.
 

The following pictorial illustrates what our typical conversion consists of.

We start with your good useable unit.

 

Step one is to clean degrease and disassemble the Magneto.

 

Inspect the mechanical advance.

 

Inspection of the components. Hole in housing to lube lower bushing will need to be drilled in location to fit Flathead timing cover.

 

Housing machined to match ford unit.

 
Shaft is machined to fit new speedway motors drive gear. Below gear is turned another .015" to fit cover. Trial fit with gear centered in cover and upper section of mag all the way down into cover as well.
 
A completed unit ready to ship.

 

Magneto is run on a test machine. Maximum advance is 12° distributor or 24° engine.

 

Pricing is: $135.00 plus $12.00 Shipping and Handling for a total of $147.00. (includes all machine work on housing and shaft with new drive gear etc.)
